Cura­tors depart­ment, Papil­io­ra­ma Foun­da­tion

Through its live plant and ani­mal exhibits the Papil­io­ra­ma Foun­da­tion in Kerz­ers pro­vides nature expe­ri­ences and envi­ron­men­tal edu­ca­tion to over 250’000 vis­i­tors annu­al­ly, focussing not only on trop­i­cal habi­tats and species, but also on the diver­si­ty of indige­nous nature.

The Foun­da­tion is offer­ing an intern­ship as from Sep­tem­ber 2019 to a trained biol­o­gist. As an assis­tant to the cura­tor your tasks will include amongst oth­ers:

  • Updat­ing ani­mal records on the ZIMS world­wide zoo data­base
  • Sup­port in com­pil­ing species stud­book data
  • Writ­ing of best prac­tice guide­lines
  • Com­pil­ing data and writ­ing stan­dard oper­at­ing pro­ce­dures for ani­mal enrich­ment, as well as cre­at­ing a sched­ule for enrich­ment for all ani­mals in Papiliorama’s col­lec­tion

You have a degree in biol­o­gy and are flu­ent in spo­ken and writ­ten Eng­lish, as well as Ger­man or French (but prefer­ably Ger­man). You are able to com­mit your­self for 6 months as from Sep­tem­ber 2019. You are inter­est­ed in the con­ser­va­tion of species and gene pool main­te­nance of ani­mals in human care and will­ing to learn about this and oth­er zoo rel­e­vant top­ics. You like work­ing in a team and have good social skills and flex­i­bil­i­ty.
